Aspect Journal welcomes submissions from all writers and photographers, budding and experienced, who have something memorable to express about skiing or skiing culture.

Our stories range from third-person to unnervingly personal, from visionary to mired in the day-to-day account overdraft and toe jam of mountain or city life. They're thoughtful, blissful, humorous, strange, reckless, absurd, transcendental, poignant, inspiring, and humbling. They're set in resorts and the backcountry, terrain parks and trailer parks. Hopefully they're eminently readable.

Aspect Journal publishes non-fiction, fiction, and verse in three departments: Short, Long, and Themes.

Short stories are fewer than 650 words, Long stories are greater than 650 words. Themes are periodic writing contests open to anyone and based on pre-assigned topics. Generally the top 5 Themes submissions (as picked by the editors) are chosen for publication. New Themes contests are posted in the Themes section along with instructions and submission deadlines.

Aspect Journal does not publish industry news, product reviews, resort profiles, weather information, "how-to" articles, or insider guides. Rather we focus exclusively on quality storytelling—the kinds of stories that writers need to write, and that readers increasingly long for.

To submit: Please note that the following has been updated... Simply e-mail your story to heyajoey2 @ hotmail dot com. Please do not send attachments. Rather, include your piece as plain text in the body of your e-mail. Include your full name and a one-sentence bio. We do not accept "snail-mail" or fax submissions.

Stories may be edited for content and/or length. Writers whose stories are accepted may be asked to submit 1-2 digital or high-quality scanned photos, if available. Please do not send photos without our prior solicitation.

Photographers: Aspect Journal seeks talented ski photographers who are willing to trade photos for valuable free exposure. Please e-mail a link to your Web site along with a brief introduction to the inbox above.

Rights: Writers and photographers retain full rights over their work.

Compensation: Aspect Journal is a volunteer effort. We do not pay for submissions, nor do we generate revenue.
